We are at the foot of the small and characteristic village of Montecarlo with a charming medieval atmosphere, which can also be reached on foot through scenic hilly streets.
On foot or by bicycle from Casa Fontanino you can take splendid paths including those of the ancient Via Francigena, reach the nearby villages of Altopascio and Porcari, or the oak of Montecarlo, a huge oak of over 600 years that inspired Collodi for Pinocchio . Altopascio station can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes.
